Are you coming for the eclipse?

The Season will be starting early this year with the news of the eclipse kicking up a whirlwind of excitement. The complete and utter lack of snow and ice this winter is certainly going to help this early transition – cottages can be opened sooner, business will be firing up much sooner than usual and hopefully, shipments, supplies and goods will be delivered to the area sooner than usual.

Please do keep this in mind if you are traveling to the area. Most of the area businesses have scheduled seasonal deliveries which are usually an extra month off – which means it will trickle on back to the suppliers and create an above normal strain on the system. Lets all remember to be patient and be kind.

Also, quite a few of the local businesses will be closed on the day of the eclipse, or closing early – make sure you call ahead, check their social media pages and plan accordingly.

If your planning to come to the Lake and River for the eclipse here are a few of the local places you may want to check and see if there is lodging availability for weekend:

If you need additional suggestions on places to stay and things to do during your stay, don’t forget every town/ village along the lake & river have a chamber of commerce and a web page – not to mention a historical society -or find your favorite local establishment on social media and ask their suggestions – small businesses know small business owners – and we love to promote each other!

see you soon,

T

  1. In my area we are being told to stay home. To stock up on food and water. Cell phone service may be disrupted. Just unbelievable

    1. Hi Craig- A lot of places are giving that warning as well as issuing a “state of Emergency” before the eclipse, so they can get funding/personnel for crowd control, first responders, etc., – It has to do more with the crowds of people that will be on the move and infiltrating areas that otherwise wouldn’t have those numbers than some global catastrophic event. Here in the North Country, during the winter season – which technically we are still in until Memorial Day – there are few people, very few businesses are open/open full-time and your day to day supplies get delivered to the stores once or twice a month. Even during a normal summer season our cell service goes Woo-Hoo due to the influx – I think its all a matter of “prepare for the worst, hope for the best” – so that locals don’t wind up with empty larders when suddenly the shelves are empty. I also think that the “powers that be” really need to explain things better, rather than just issuing a blanket warning.
